As we get older, our skin loses collagen and elastin and becomes flabby and prone to wrinkles. Every man and woman on the planet wants to look young longer. A majority of people over 40 aren’t ready to make injections and opt for plastic surgery just yet. They want to try natural and less invasive ways to keep their skin looking young.
We asked Seattle based plastic & cosmetic surgeons from La Belle Vie to give us a few tips on how to improve the skin’s elasticity thus making it look plump and fresh. The more elastic the skin is, the fewer wrinkles are visible.
1. Pay Attention To Your Diet
The skin’s elasticity depends on the amount of collagen and elastin in your body. As you age, these two components disappear leaving your skin dry and unready to fight environmental factors.
Fast food, smoking, and sun tanning are among the skin’s worst enemies. However, you can rectify the situation partially by adding more antioxidants to your diet. Antioxidants improve the skin’s condition, allowing it to fight the outside factors.
Look for foods with high Vitamin A content, such as tomatoes, carrots, and sweet potatoes. The beta carotene inside them fights free radicals, which can lead to premature skin aging.
2. Choose Your Skincare Products Well
While you are loading up on vitamins from the inside, think about pampering your skin on the outside. Applying different creams doesn’t do the body as much good as enriching it with vitamins.
However, it can help your skin look and feel fresh while serving as a layer of protection from environmental factors.
Your cleansers and creams should contain as many natural ingredients as possible. Some of them must be essential oils, such as chamomile. Chamomile helps smooth out broken capillaries and improves the skin’s elasticity. Another essential oil, neroli, can help cell regeneration.
3. Don’t Forget About Scrubbing
Since it’s hard even for the best skincare products to penetrate the upper layers of your skin, you can simplify their work. Scrubbing on a regular basis removes the dead skin cells, allowing essential oils and other ingredients to sink deep into your skin, giving it proper nourishment and improving the elasticity.
4. Discover Hyaluronic Acid
Hyaluronic acid is a vital collagen compound. When your body produces less collagen, you can take advantage of some outside help. You can find this component in foods which contain many amino acids, such as beans, soy, and root vegetables. By adding them to your diet, you can boost collagen production.
Hyaluronic acid is also featured in many skincare products. However, in order for it to work at least a little, you need to apply it on a regular basis.
When the skin is no longer able to maintain normal collagen levels, some people opt for hyaluronic injections.
5. Do Avocado Oil Massage
Avocado offers numerous moisturizing properties, which can make your skin shine. The oil penetrates deeply into your skin and boosts collagen production. Only a few minutes of avocado oil massage per day can help your skin become firmer and tighter.
The oil contains vitamins A, B, and E, which nourish your skin. You can do the avocado oil massage all over your body.
6. Drink More Water
As the skin ages, it becomes drier. Don’t limit yourself. Drink as much pure water as your body asks for. Pure water helps keep the skin hydrated from the inside thus improving its elasticity and appearance.
